I found out today my room mate(who has always lived in the US) has never seen TRON, or The Last Starfighter. /o\ Megs parents, you fail....

Not as badly as Eli from work, though. How the HELL do you live in the USA your whole life, and somehow NEVER see ANY of the Star Wars movies? Seriously!! George Lucas is FROM Modesto, all of 20 minutes away!

I'm a born and bred sci-f/fantasy nut, I get it from both of my parents, so maybe I'm over-reacting, lol. But seriously, if you're over about 6 or so, you should have seen at *least* ONE of the Star Wars movies, right?
ugh. It's only 5 pm, and I'm ready to crash. That'll teach me to stay up to2 am when I have to get to wrok by 5:30 a.m..............

yes and by the time children are 6 they should be shown the original star wars trilogy. I'm a sci-fi nut too, always have been... but Star Wars should be seen by everyone.

lol, yeah, to me, never seeing Star Wars is like never seeing Mary Poppins, or Wizard of Oz, you know?

I have never seen those movies, either. >.>

Although never seeing Star Wars is a travesty. My best friend is 28 and hasn't seen them either; we're remedying that this week. :D

seriously? Now I get to tell you about them, to try to get you to go rent them, lol!

Tron is one of my favorite Disney movies, it's full of very typical '70's special effects, and strange ideas about what goes on in a Computer. There are Users, who are like gods, and The Master Computer, which is Evil. :) Early misunderstandings of what a LASER could do are drive the plot, as well as the cut throat business of archade game creation!

The Last Starfighter is a slightly more contemporary one, about a young guy who is going nowhere fast. He gets a new high score on a video game, and it turns out the video game is actualy a simulation used to find pilots. Pilots for Starfighters, in particular. He ends up in the middle of a galactic war he knows nothing about, and fighting to protect, well, everything. To add to the drama, a 'beta unit' has been left on earth in his place, and it's basically a robot with his emotions and appearance. Thing is it isn't really him, and while it looks like him and has a basic knowledge of how he'll act, it has some problems putting that into practice!

I have a hard time comprehending a 28 year old who's somehow avoided Star Wars their whole life, lol; I have vague memories of seeing 'Return of the Jedi' at the drive in when I was 4; I spent most of the movie under the seat, lol.

I actually own Tron, is the sad part. My uncle had a huge collection of movies, and I got about a third of them when he died, and that was one of them. I may actually have to dig it out and watch it now. :D

The Last Starfighter actually sounds really awesome, I'm definitely going to have to try and find a copy of that somewhere. Thank you so much for the summaries, doll!

Exactly! I don't even remember how old I was when I first saw Star Wars, it had to be earlier than eight. He just says he was never interested in them, but it's STAR WARS. Even if you don't think they're your type of movie, you kind of have to see them to understand a third of the references in pop culture.

lol, you really should watch them, they are CLASSICS! Now I want to watch them again, too! Well, Neither has any cussing or anything, really; I'll go grab them from mom and dad's and force my roommate to sit through them, lol. Hey, she talked me into sitting through Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, School of Rock, and Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny; I ended up liking all of them, lol, so now it's my turn to have her watch some of my 'all time classics'

And, yeah, for pop culture, never seeing Star Wars is kind of like not knowing what a Klingon is. Even if you didn't like Star Trek, how can you avoid any knowledge of them? It's EVERYWHERE!
