I don't know if you've heard about this; I just did this morning. I am pretty incoherent right now, so I'll just post the links, and say PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE email the sponsors, even if you normal stay completely clear of this kind of thing.

even if you don't feel comfortable being politically active, normally, this is about people who think it's perfectly ok to encourage CHILD ABUSE, simply because a child is not conforming to 'normal' gender stereotypes.


PLEASE help spread word of this, these two...vermin need to be STOPPED. I understand shock radio, but when you are saying kids need to be beat, for ANY reason? That is crossing the line. At that point,it is NOT shock radio.

and PLEASE. even if you don't think this concerns you, please help. NO CHILD should ever be beaten. EVER. and that's what these guys are encouraging, saying they would *beat* their own kids if the caught them wearing high heals. Also, talk about double standards: girls wear pants & tennis shoes all the time, and no one thinks anything about it.

everyone has the right to their own opinion; free speech is something people have fought hard for, all over the world. an opinion is: "I hate _____." ____ can be anything, it's an opinion. it could be Cauliflower, dogs, a group of people.

on the other hand, "_____'s/anyone that likes ____/supports ____ need to be beat/killed/whatever" is NOT an opinion. THAT is an incitement and encouragement to cause to bodily harm. that is NOT EVER OK.

People seem to have a hard time understanding the difference between an opinion, and encouraging harm on others here in the US.

yes. people are lucky i'm not near them when they say shit like that. i am not a violent person by nature, but when people say shit like that? i can punch real fucking hard. and i would, too.

I really hope the one who said that doesn't have kids, or if he does, that they aren't in his care. I seriously think if he *does* have kids in his care, they need to be removed: he essentially said he will beat his child for not fitting his ideas of gender-appropriate behavior.

as a canadian, i didn't feel it was right of me to email the sponsers or this company. so i emailed every canadian media company i could get an email address for, called the local tv stations, emailed my mp and mpp to find out what sort of punishment they would push for in a canadian program and sai di expected their support to see that this example is bitched slapped as the worst thing a media personality could ever do, and that i hope to see them bringing up media law in the local area and at the national and provincial levels. then i emailed all my american relatives and told them to get the lead on out the emails to the sponsers and the parent company.

i think that is horrible and wrong. and just fucking sad. i talked to my dad about it on the phone and we were both in tears at the thought of a child being beaten for something as frivolous as playing dress up.

thanks! I completly understand you not feeling right about sending the emails since you are in a different country, but I want to make sure you know how much I appreciate you telling your relatives and asking companies where you live how they would handle something like this.

that will help to prevent something like this from ever happening there, which is just as important, I think!
